So, what is this stigma?

It is the negative ideas that are associated with mental health, which promote discrimination and trivializes its impact on individuals.

 

Why is this important?

In fear of being stigmatized and discriminated, many are discouraged from opening up about their situation and seeking professional help. Thus, in order to encourage people to seek out the support and help they need, we must first reduce this stigma.

 

What can be done?

We can combat this stigma by spreading awareness of the commonality of having mental illness and by shifting the focus to ways we can build each other up!’
